New user here - Tennis injury
« on: July 29, 2008, 08:15:54 PM »
Insurance won's pay for an MRI.  Have had "sharp" pain for 6 weeks now, but it is becoming less.  Taking Naproxen twice daily and using ice 3 times per day.  Not sure what the injury is, but I'm speculating that it is an MCL tear since the pain is mostly on the inner half of the knee.  I was unable to walk up stairs for a few weeks, but now can with some pain.  Able to walk, but not run.  I really want to get back to playing tennis ASAP.  My doctor was useless and my insurance company is even more useless.  It seems from what I read that it takes about 2 months for an MCL tear to heal.  Is this correct?  How long should I wait to play sports again?  If I come back too soon, will I have to start over?  Any experience with this would be appreciated.

Find your self a good sports injury doctor.  If you have to pay out of pocket to get a good diagnosis.  It can make all the difference in your recovery.
8/4/07 fell

Yea...that's the best advice.   But I'm hesitating because I'm making progress, just not quite there yet.  I'm hoping this thing just "goes away."   Wishful thinking, I guess.

Went to a specialist, who told me it sounds like patellar tendonitis.  It is still bothering me and it has been about 6-7 weeks now....

OK, so I got MRI results...here is what it says:
"edema of the medical femoral condyle, possibly representing contusion or stress reaction." So, I guess that means a "bruised bone" or a "stress fracture"?

Anyone know more about this than me?
