sports? Just curious from those in the know how far into the future we're looking at before they develop knee replacement that can withstand high impact sports? For example, I play ultimate frisbee and it's a lot of running, jumping, and cutting on the field, etc. Thanks.

Sorry to say .. I dont see it in the near future.   You could probally run.. but after a TKR you would think twice before doing anything to hurt it.

I need double TKRs and I'm looking into the new Smith & Nephew hardware that is surfaced with Oxidized Zirconium.  The system seems to be aligned more like a normal knee and the wear rate due to the surfacing is far less.  It appears to allow for a more active lifestyle, so it might be a good choice for you -- but try not to expect miracles.  You can read up on it here.

I'll have to do some research on the knees you are referencing but it was my understanding that the problem was with the components coming loose in addition with any problems you might have with the knee itself.

I hope it lasts a lifetime, that is the one my OS selected for my TKR on 7/10/09, mainly because of my age (38).  It's for a more active lifestyle.
