Hi Jan,

So far it seems like you are doing pretty well.  Going down stairs well is usually the last thing that comes back.  The unoperated knee is likely not too happy about taking most of the load.  It may have the same issues as the op knee.  Looks like you will be having something done for it soon.  Quite often there is quite a bit of pain around where the release was done, and it seems to last a while.  It does get better and you are still only a month out.  I hope things really improve for you.  Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi All

How are things going for you all, hope that you better than me.

How long after your surgery did you feel ok again and pain free.

It nearly 3 weeks since I have had the left knee done(same as before lateral release and chondraplasty) and what a big mistake to have both knees done in 10 weeks, I am really struggling to get around and in so much pain from both knees.

Went to see physio today and she has made me go back on my crutches as im putting to much pressure on my right knee(1st one done) and it causing me a great deal of pain and I could end up doing damage to it.

Going to see OS on thursday as got hugh lump on side of my left knee which is full of blood and fluid (physio did give it a name but can't remember it now) apparently it is very common after this type of surgery but I might need it draining. Do you know what it called?

Hi Jan,

Sorry you are in such pain.  Three weeks isn't too long and 10 weeks is a bit close together.  It will probably take a while longer to start feeling anywhere normal again.  When I had my prior lateral releases, the OS made me wait 6 months before he would do the second one.  I think that was still too close together.  I think I know what the lump is, I had one too many years ago.  I can't think of what in the heck it's called though.  There can be a bit of internal bleeding after a lateral release.  Good luck and hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi Milly

Thanks for that, I pushed my OS to do the 2nd knee so quick as with dad dying I didnt want to be sitting around thinking all the time, but I know now that it was a big mistake and it will probably take me longer to get over it.

The trouble with me I expect miracles and that everything would be fine straight away

I can appreciate wanting to get it done.  Now where did I put that magic wand???? ???

I think we all expect instant results.  Take it easy and eventually it will get better.

Hi All

Hope you are all ok, how are things with you all

I went to see OS as Im still having alot of problems with my right knee which was done 19 weeks ago now, he had decided that the lateral release has not worked and is going to try to do it 1 more time in January 08, I am not looking forward to it but if the outcome is as good as my left knee which was only done 9 weeks ago I will be pleased. I am pain free and able to do more than before with the left knee so that has been a great success.

Will keep you all posted.
