I'm trying to get an estimate on how much a scope would cost me - I'm in the Pacific NW.

Since the costs vary widely you're not going to be able to get anything close to accurate from people on the internet. All we can do is guess and tell what our surgery costs. You first need to call your OS and ask how much he charges. Then ask what hospital he uses and if he uses any assistants. Then call the assistants. Then call the hospital and find out what they charge. Then ask them which anesthesiologists they use. Then call the anesthesiologists and ask them how much they charge. Then on top of that there will be other charges for radiologists, pathologists, etc. You can probably expect to pay anywhere from $20,000-$50,000. Your surgeon's cost will depend on what he does when he gets in your knee. If he does more than one procedure there may be separate costs for each which you may not know about until after the surgery.

I had a torn medial meniscus arthroscopic surgery in February 2008, at a free standing outpatient surgical center here in CT. As far as I remember, these were the approximate charges (and this is what the claim amount was for=I didn't pay that much with insurance):
Surgical center: $3700
ORthopedist: $2600
Anesthesialogist: $800

In October 2007, I had a torn lateral meniscus arthroscopic surgery in the same free standing outpatient surgical center. These are the charges for that surgery--same doctor, btw=-=surgery was more extensive.

SUrgical center: $3600
Orthopedist: $3250
Aneshesia:  $665 (same anesthesia practice)

Hope that helps.

My Fulkerson TTT with chondroplasty and Lateral Release was almost $9,000.  I paid $2000 of that thanks to insurance.  I don't remember what everything each was priced at.  I want my money back though!!  I am 5 months out and still on crutches!  Good luck!

Simple scope, including pre and post care, probably $5000-10,000.  Ask the surgeon, ask everyone.  Ask for discounts, ask IN ADVANCE.

I also know if you offer to pay in cash (not charge or finance it out) many hospitals will take an immediate 10 - 15% off the bill.  It never hurts to ask.

My husband just had a surgery on his knee and it cost us over $21,000 (US) thanks to no insurance we are having to pay most of it. Now his surgery was not orthoscopic.
I just had a scope done on my right knee and it is costing about $8,000 (US) they had to do more than they thought when they went in there.  :-[
I'm so busy that I'm not sure if I lost my horse or just found my lead rope.
