can anyone advise....
« on: March 09, 2008, 09:49:09 PM »
i have been having lots of problems with my knee and no os knows whats wrong. its very swollen and very much painful and i cannot wieght bear or do anything at all

when i get up my knee cracks (seems to lock and then unlock) it hurts like hell. 2 sundays ago it did it again but it was one of the worst ive felt and it made me fall back onto my bed from sheer pain. but after it happened approx 30 or so minutes later a bruise occured. it always seems to bruise after my knee cracks but not as bad as this time.

can anyone give me any advice or anything on why or what i could do.

Seems to me you need to pursue getting a specialist to see it. I don't know what else to suggest.
multiple arthroscopies 2/00,3/01,6/01,1/03, 12/07,10/10. chondromalacia, severe medial joint space narrowing following 3 partial menisectomies, chronic pain problems, kneecap problems, OCD lesion, failed mfx.

Have any of your doctors ordered an MRI? When you say "no OS" how many have you seen? If they just tell you they don't know what it is and send you away then you need to find an OS that will figure it out.

fanks for the replys dm and jathib,

ive had about 5 mri's in total. the last being with dye. all aparently came bk normal!
i have seen 2 ortho surgeons and they both dont know what it wrong. the first and my main os did the arthroscopy in 2005. he is a realy nice guy but he said he just doesnt know what is wrong with it but doesnt want to go into again so theres nothing he can do. he agree'd with me to get another appinion. other os agreed with first os. my new os who i see april 11th 08 is a specialist in knees at a sports injury hospital so should hopefully be able to get to the bottom of it.

what i am worried about it the bruising. if mri have shown nothing and xrays (of which ive had 3 ) show nothing also then y am i having so much problems. but my main concern is this bruising. y and were do you fink its happening and do u think it is normal? shud i seak advice sooner than my appointment or shud i wait til april 11th?

helen xx
