Left and right ACL reconstructive surgery 9 weeks apart.
« on: March 07, 2008, 07:52:45 PM »
Hi

I am a new comer to the site and I am hoping it will offer me some great advice in the weeks ahead.

I two complete ACL tears left and right knee and I also have a mild MCL tear in the left knee. Both injuries done while skiing.

I have my surgeries booked for May and July.
I am starting to think this might be asking a lot of myself, to have the surgeries so close together.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and had both knees operated on fairly close together?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

I did not have an ACL reconstruction, but I did have a MPFL (medial patella femoral ligament) reconstruction and Tibial Tuberosity Transfer done 7 weeks apart.  Mine was a very major surgery, similar to an ACL recon.  It can be done, its a little tough at times.  I found that the hardest thing is not being as mobile after the second surgery as I would have liked.  An advantage to doing them so close together is you can progress in rehab better then if they were farther apart.
