Well it's official!
« on: January 30, 2008, 03:13:11 PM »
I just heard back from my new OS and he said after looking at all the x-rays, surgical notes, and my patient file, that the only way to fix my knees is to completely re-do both.

I just sat and cried all night ... I'm terrified.

His nurse is re-working his schedule to fit me in asap, then I will know more.

Hi KRNeville,

I am sorry you have to go through yet another surgery.  Who knows, maybe this is the last in a line of failed fixes.  Is this OS a second opinion?  Do you feel confident with him?

Take care,
Joni

Yes, this is a second opinion... and Thank God a really caring doctor. I do feel confident in him.

And I pray you are right and it's the last (4) surgeries and I will finally have no pain and feel better. I'm just devastated that it has to come to this, I was truely hoping for just having to have the spacer replaced. I really set my heart on it ... and like I said terrified. I'm a strong woman ..but I'm not sure I can handle the pain again.

KRNeville,

I understand your fear and frustration.  Having multiple unsuccessful surgeries and chronic pain does tend to take alot out of you.  But, on the positive side, you have been lucky enough to find a caring os and you confidence in him.  When is your surgery scheduled for?  Maybe we could be rehab buddies.  I am facing a possible osteotomy on my hip and knee within the next couple of months.  I truly hope this will be the surgery that resolves your pain and I will keep you in my thoughts.  (((((Hugs))))

Take care,
Joni
