I haven't used this site in quite a while, I was on the ACI and total knee replacement side for quite a while and wrote my journey through a few of my 13 total operations for osteoarthritis in both knees. I have a right TKR and a left PFR.

I saw my surgeon on  20th Dec and told him of pain in my hands, wrist, big toes, hips, shoulders and neck, he sent me for a RF blood test and said he would be in touch if there was a problem.
I didn't hear anything, then Friday morning a letter arrived from the hospital for me to see a rheumatoidologist this Thursday!! Thats a fast appt for our NHS!! So that worried me a little, any way after struggling to get my RF results I finally found out it came out as 23.

All this RA is new to me and have read a little about it, I'm more used to the OA information.
Can anyone tell me what this number actually means as I can't find anything on the internet about results of tests.

Kindest regards
Jules

While I haven't had a TKR for the OA yet, it is in the cards.  My doctor will do it whenever I am ready - both knees.  Right now things are ok.  Last summer I was diagnosed with RA.  To be honest, the pain in my hands and wrists and my hips and lower back are much worse - especially with the cold.  In a way the bit of swelling in the knees actually relieves some of the OA pain (at least it does in my head).  I am just trying to keep my head togeher and my hands moving.

Sometimes it just doesn't seem fair!

Hi Kim,
I know exactly what you mean!
I didn't get any further on at my appt, he said my results were boarderline positive which could mean not actually positive at all!!
I had some more bloods done and xrays of my feet and hands last week and now have to wait til May for the result!
Hands have been quite bad this last week though.

Best wishes
Jules
