Hey All, UPDATE!!!
« Reply #30 on: April 08, 2008, 11:46:35 PM »
Hi everybody,

Well, lots of things have happened since my last post. I actually cancelled the appointment with the doctor in Pittsburgh.

I have an appointment on Friday, April 11th with Dr. T.!  :DMom has spoken to the people at his office and I am really confident that if anyone can help me it will be him. I am really excited to meet him. I am sooo ready to be done with this pain. Sometimes I wonder how everybody that posts on here that are much worse off than me, can deal with it. I found that if I use my TENS unit, heat, and play Guitar Hero I can be distracted enough to lessen some of the pain. Unfortunately that doesn't help me when I am trying to write a paper on Nietzsche! :-\ I find myself really distracted by the pain, and if I take any meds I just want to sleep! Driving is one of the things that hurt the most.

The docs here at home said that they predicted my left leg would turn as well because the angles are very similar to the right leg. I think he was more puzzled by the fact that it wasn't crooked to start with. lol. I don't know, I try to think of reasons why but I just come up blank. Although I think walking has alot to do with it.

As far as therapy I was doing it 2 times a week for about 8 months, but about 2 months ago that ran out so I have just been doing some exercises on my own.
I not doing any kind of therapy as of right now.

As always, hearing from any of you makes my day so feel free to drop me a comment! ;D
Take care,
Lyndsey

Hey Cat,

That would be awesome to meet you, I would love to talk to you.  :D I think I am probably going to end up having something done like you had to have done. I can honestly say I am a little nervous. I have a paper to write that's due Wednesday at 4:30 and all I can think about is leaving on Thursday. I think my apt. is right around that time as well. I hope your plane is on time too! We are going to drive, it will take about 5 and a half hours. I think we are going to go Thursday and stay in a hotel, just so we can relax and know we will be there on time. My grandparents are going to come with mom and I because they will drive and help pay for everything. They have been there for me along this crazy journey. I think they are just as anxious to deal with someone who knows something as I am! lol.

Dr. T has looked at my pics that I have posted and is fairly sure about what I need done. He said if when I come his suspicions are correct then I may be looking at surgery the beginning of May. For me, I am not sure what to think about that. I have read your derotation diary and have to admit it does scare me. I know it needs done and I am in so much pain I am ready to try just about anything to eliminate that. I think with all I've heard about Dr. T he is the man to see.

Thanks for the reply, :)
talk to you later!!!

Cat,
Thanks for the message!  ;D
I sent you an email.
I think we are going to go out on Thursday and stay Thursday night so that we can find out where we are going, and know we will get there on time. I think we are just going to get a hotel in Warren somewhere. I don't think we will stay Friday night unless we have to for some reason.

UPDATE!
« Reply #40 on: April 12, 2008, 04:22:11 PM »
Well guys,  ;D

I met Dr. T yesterday along with Cat and Bri! What a waiting room party!  8) lol! It was pretty awesome, and I am really glad I went to see Dr. T. He knows exactly what is going on with my knees. He did a CT scan and remeasured the angle of rotation in both my femurs. He said they may be the most rotated femurs he has seen yet. My right measured a 65 and my left 67 degrees. A person is supposed to have 13 degrees of rotation, so mine are REALLY twisted. The plan is to derotate my right femur first with a derotational osteotomy. The spin the leg date is set for around May 19, not sure of the exact date yet. He said we may or may not have to rotate my tibia. It depends on how drastic my foot points out after the femur is derotated. All in all it was a great visit, and well worth the drive.

A big thanks to all the kneegeeks, especially Cat and Bri,  ;) because without all of you I would probably still be lost right now.

THANKS!!!  ;D

I will be posting more as I know more.

I LOVE this site!!!!

Take care,  :)
