YAY!!!
« on: January 03, 2008, 06:21:03 AM »
well, i went to PT today for the torn gastroc and it went really well. he also told me that i more than likely dont have ITBS, but chondromalacia, because my patella moves too much and tends to sit off to the side, damaging the cartilage. he taped it for me to help center the patella, and i can already feel a difference. I am soooo happpy!!!! ;D i cant even begin to explain the feeling that i have because someone might know what is wrong, and how i can fix. anyway, i go back on friday, and then 3 times a week starting next week. even though it is $25 a visit, it is SOOOOOo worth it.

thanks everyone,
jak

Thanks for writing tanya

i have it again today, and i can NOT wait. my knee was kind of pissed off at me, but i guess i have to work through the pain. i have to work everyday, and the constant standing is kind of pissing it off more. BUT, i hope that i will be able to play softball this year. YAY!!! i hope that the problem with the patella moving too much, will be able to be fixed somehow. i am going to ask if he can prescribe a brace so i can get a nicce one for softball that my insurance will pay for. does anyone know if PTs can prescribe knee braces, or do i have to go to my OS? how about orthotics?

thanks,
jak :)

I think only Dr's can prescribe, but I could be wrong, there's nothing wrong with your PT suggesting a certain type of brace and you asking your Dr to prescribe it.
When I first went to PT my exercises were pretty much the same everytime, later as the larger muscles were responding, we would vary my exercises.  My PT would have me do new and different exercises and he would make sure that I was doing them correctly.  Hang in there.
8/4/07 fell
8/5 diagnosed TPF
8/6 surgery plate and 6 screws
8/12 out of hospital NWM
8/21 staples removed
9/18 OS appt - WBAT with crutches
10/10 - WBAT with cane
10/27 - back to work w/cane
12/26 - no cane, slight limp when tired
1/25/08 - released from PT, no limp
2/3/09 - Released by OS
