Surgery Coming Up - Advice Wanted
« on: January 02, 2008, 02:10:40 PM »
Hi All!  I have knee surgery scheduled for January 9th where they will be doing a Lateral Release, shaving down a hole in the cartilage behind my knee cap, removing scar tissue and possibly removing a fat pad from my knee.  Has anyone had this surgery done or something similar? I have my pre-op appointment tomorrow and want to know what questions I should ask.  Also - how long were you out of work, how long were you on crutches, how bad is the pain really, and do you have any suggestions for passing the time while you are immobile?  Thanks in advance!

i had a lateral release done, i was on crutches for a while, the pain is bearable with meds. its not horrible. my lateral release did not work, not saying it wont for you. i had a crappy doctor, result of him screwing up i had to have a fulkerson osteotomy done. its a different case. but the surgery was not that bad at all. you will be fine just do what your told, make sure you go to all ur pt. and have a little help for awhile.
