Great topic, noueuse!  I've used the PubMed engine at the National Library of Medicine--you mostly get abstracts but in some cases you get links to full text, I think.  (There's also a whole journal called Arthroscopy!)  And, if you live by a med school, you can go to the library and get the articles, of course (just in case you don't find enough info online!).  Here's the link:

5/00: partial lateral menisectomy (R)
7/01: LR, partial lateral menisectomy, cyst draining (R), followed by ongoing problems with illiotibial band syndrome & adhesions
6/04: Much better!

I've found a goldmine for medical journals.  Mostly the abstracts are available online, but it's a place to start.

It's also a good way to see if an OS you are seeing or considering seeing is actually publishing and participating in research in his/her field.

You have to register, but it's free.

Another great one, which allows you to pay a small fee for 24 hours of access, or a price per article, is the American Journal of Sports Medicine.  There are a lot of new procedures reviewed, clinical trials results, etc.

My orthopaedic surgeon recommended this relatively recent article, which is fairly comprehensive:

Complications of Arthroscopy of the Knee, by R. Allum.

It was published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (Br), 2002;84-B;937-45.

Although I was able to download it from a medical database, I can't e-mail it or print it.  If you can get hold if it, it is relevant to those suffering such complications.

Best of luck,
Wendy
