I think that as you do less and dislocate more then the muscles quit on you and you're left with no support for the joint. As a result the ligaments have to stop it moving in ways it shouldn't (rather than the muscles with ligaments for back up), and also more pressure is put through the joint itself rather than the surrounding musculature, which results in more pain. I have no dislocations, but have a similar problem with muscle strength, and I can't seem to build it back up. Grrr!!! I now have to stick to short jaunts to the shops rather than longer trips (unless I want to live on pain killers for a couple of days). It sucks sometimes.
