Overflowing/problematic toilets.  Every time I use a bathroom at a friend's house I'm terribly afraid that it's going to break.  I always ask to make sure there are no issues with it.

No me, but my poor teenage son is completely freaked by spiders.  There a Huntsman spider that's taken up residence in his bedroom. It's 20cm in diametre...he slept on the couch the night he saw it on his doona.  Instead of calmly putting an icecream container over it and taking it outside, he went into complete panic and scared it off, so he didn't know where it had gone.  I tried to get it on crutches but failed.  He took an hour to pluck up the courage to capture it and then release it across the road so it wouldn't come back.  I could hear all the sound effects, counting to ten, talking to himself and the genuine terror he felt, poor kid, I know how much guts it took to catch it but he did it.

I'm with Sue on the moths. And also butterflies because they're just pretty moths. I have long curly hair and am afraid they will get tangled in my hair and be fluttering around next to my face. But I'm fine with spiders and snakes.
My other thing is I can't stand anyone touching my feet as they are very ticklish, and can't watch anyone touching anyone else's feet, even on TV. The mad thing is injections - I don't mind getting them so long as I don't look, but again I can't watch them on TV even when I know it's not real!

Spiders when they move - if they stay still thats fine but as soon as they move i am off.  Living alone means that i now have to get rid of them myself and if that happens i squeal like a child and make lots of noise.

I'm afraid of heights... which might have contributed to my fall while snow skiing a few years ago... it's been downhill ever since!  No pun intended!!  :-)

And I'll have to add wasps to the list now.  I felt so helpless recently when I was strapped in my CPM, almost asleep due to the pain meds, and a wasp flew straight towards me!!  Screaming didn't help because no one else was at home!  I just waved my arms around like a crazy person... so I guess I'm glad no one else was at home!  Happened 4 more times that week!!  Needless to say, I was glad when another cold front came to town and those demons stayed in their nests and out of our house!

Looking back, I guess I should have taken a hint from our daughter and added them to the list years ago.  She hated wasps with a passion and had been stung several times.  When she was 5 (she's 12 now) and lost her first tooth, she was afraid to put her tooth under her pillow that night.  I couldn't understand why until she finally said "But Mommy, what if the tooth fairy has a side-kick that's a wasp, then what??"  We could tell she'd thought about that one ALL day!!

I am afraid of boats.  Not to be confused with the fear of water.  I can swim fine, but boats scare the hell out of me.  Even boats in dry dock.  It's ironic as I am from the Maritimes.

I am also scared of the wind.  It makes me cry when it gets so strong.  Eeek.

From a bad experience when I was a Child at the Dentist when I had my tooth pulled out that had decay. I hated it when they put me under with sleeping gas it made me scarred of Dentists throughout my childhood but as I grow older they gave me local anesthetic when extracting a tooth or doing a filling. They not so bad after all and will have a overcrowded tooth removed next month that no longer bother me.

I still hate the idea of having a general anesthetic if I ever need to have one as I hate Hospitals and the thought of any Surgery would scare me a lot.

Nick :) {2007} :)

I no longer have a phobia of having a general anesthetic after having my 1st every surgery on my right knee in November 2009. It was not as bad as I thought it was going to be and it felt nice just before falling asleep and no where near as bad as sleeping gas when I was a kid at the dentist which I dont have to worry about if I needed more surgery in the future as most hospitals give an injection to put you to sleep.

Mine is weird - cold cooked eggs, especially if with mayonnaise  ::)  I have to leave the room if I can smell that muck.  I think I would eat virtually any food stuff before .  I am ok with hot eggs with ketchup and can just about eat a boiled egg as long as it is hot and doesn't smell like egg  :-\

Spiders. *breaks out in cold sweat*

AND - this is strange and pathetic - tall buildings like windmills, water towers and observation towers. This is most likely due to my also being terrified of heights.
