I think when I am away on holiday. I leave tomorrow night and said I would phone the PT a week today. I suppose that gives them a week to find a time between the OS theatre and clinics etc.

How are you bearing up these days ?

oh yes, so youll hear about it after your holiday. I hope you have a lovely time away.

Im alright, I still feel every bit as unstable as I did when I started this new physio - Im seeing her next monday, Im going to discuss that with her and see does she think I should wait out the 6 months or see the OS earlier. Im beginning to wonder if Im wasting my time with the PT as Im stil so unstable.

((((((HUGS)))))))) Tanya

I wisj I could help you more. What sort of surgery would be possible for you ?
I mean its frustrating, your PT sees you every week so it may be wirth the chat.

I am going to call when I am away. I must admit I am worried about the holiday and my knee coping and the resulting pain and  swelling. I have found it almost impossible to get travel insurance but eventually through my husbands work I got it. SO we will just need to wait and see. Hopefully it will be productive news I get and a direction for when I return.

You take care and no doubt I will pop in and visit if I can get web access - which I am sure I will so keep posting your news here for me to catch up on.

Thanks Joanne, Im absolutely dying to hear what your OS says to see can it be applied to my own situation!!!

Actually my PT only sees me once a month now, I have the technique right for all the exercises, its just a matter of doing them, and then once a month she pust me on the isokinetic testing machine to see what gains ive made. But last time i couldnt do the machine cos i had just dislocated.

I dont even know if there is a surgery available but the recommendation of e-stim and physio is not working.

I had enough today, i was so unstable in work, i just couldnt do it anymore. So I phoned my OSs secretary and explained to her what the OS had said, what my PT keeps saying (I was very careful to not give out about my PT but I did get across that Im demoralised, confused and I dont know who to listen to). I could hear her taking notes so I told her that OS says my VMO is not firing but with e-stim and physio it should wake up and start working, my PT keeps shaking her head when she sees me and telling me that she doesnt think physio is the answer. Meanwhile I have dislocated 4 times in the past 2 weeks and Im at the end of my tether with pain and instability and its FOUR months since I started the new physio but functionally there has been no improvement whatsoever.
So she was really nice and she said she would talk to my OS and aks him what he thinks, she got my chart out and even faxed my MRI results to me cos I hadnt seen them and said that she wont see my OS until wednesday but she will talk to him and see does he recommend more tests, another appointment to review things, just continue with the physio.... whatever - so Im just praying that something good comes of this because I have had enough.
I dont go out anywhere anymore, anything that involves walking is a major traumatic experience for me, Ive just lessened and lessned my life down to a point where I just about manage to get into work from the car, sit at my desk all day, and come home and dont go out again. The walk from my front door to the car, from the car into work, and same again coming home are all high stress situations with me trying to hold my kneecap in and it trying to come out and me limping around and compensating and trying not to let my knee dislocate. Its just a nightmare and when I agreed to the OS suggestion of e-stim and physio I did so thinking there'd be some improvements - but there hasnt been.

Get a good knee support for away and try to sit whenever possible.

I hope you do get web access, be nice to hear from you, the holiday might help take your mind off your knee a bit also.

I will make a point of finding web access to hear how you got on. Keep this thread as a wee diary and I will read and reply when I cam.

Tanya like you have told so many you have to let emotion out. YOu are always so upbeat, focused and empathetic towards everyone that its ok to be human like the rest of us you are always supporting. You have  such a caring personlaity I wish I was a little closer to help you out. It must be tremendously frustrating.

Just hang in there and I promise I will make it online to see how you are.

I just want to double what Joanne has said.!!!! I have seen you post to many  many people even if you could not help you spoKe a word of encouragement. You have been a wonderful friend to another poster and have kept up with her when no one else has. You now need to know how important to this forum you have been. Now it is your turn to need a BIG HUG (((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))). I pray that you find an answer soon as you have suffered enough.                             CAROL

Joanne...I am so sorry that you are having all of these problems. Ive been there. After my LR, I still had  problems. My knee was so unstable. It felt like it was shifting. For a long time everyone kept telling me give it time, give it time. And it was so frustrating hearing that, knowing that something was wrong. So, I truly sympathize with you. I think about you alot and wish I could help. Keep me informed as to what they do.

Have a nice vacation....enjoy for me too!! ;D

Ill talk to you soon.

Hugs...Donna

Poor Donna is also going through it. She had a TKR in June with problems and now faces more surgery with a definite surgery to follow that. Donna you are just so kind to pop in given your current countdown to surgery. Just want you to know I will be thinking of you too, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGE HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Tanya

Stay strong. I hope the meeting with your PT on Monday is productive. When it gets you down like this - which is so unfamiliar as I know how positive you are then maybe its time for a new opinion. If you want me to do some research on OS in Glasgow let me know. I have a few names already but I am here to help if I can.

I promise to check in and see how you are doing. Stay strong, one day at a time and PM me your address and I will send you a wee postcard when away. I will be thinking of you :-* :-* :-*
