The grey squirrel has been a pest and killing the native red for about a 100 years now John! Typical that the government have only just noticed. There are no known natural colonies of reds left in England, a few isolated outposts in Wales, but the real last bastion is in the Highlands of Scotland. The NTS has been working hard to ensure that the greys are kept out.

Here we have about 5 species, all native and not a single grey. The greys were imported from North America in the late 1890s because they looked more elegant than the reds! And they were more robust - don't we just know that now  >:(  So much for the landed gentry of the Belle Epoque!

You make it sound as if I'm in the sticks Sue your right !!!  ;D There is a wooded area near me thats got red squirrels and is looked after by the society.  Can't say i've seen one yet though. Or I wasn't taking much notice (thats more nearer the mark)  We don't appreciate what we have until its pointed out and I have a great view of the mountains over from Caernarfon right over to the Great Orme, Llandudno.  Won't be long till the snow is on top of the mountains then down hill from then on in.

Never mind soon be Christmas LOL

I hate to think of the winter coming...harsh weather and snowdrifts...makes me wish I lived somewhere warmer!

Your right there Sue.  I do appreciate it especially when the weather is nice.  Not long before my benny beanie cap comes out for the colder weather  :(

This has become a Sue thread!

And that's a problem because...?

We Sues have a lot to say...

Our Doberman wont go outside in the morning, he just stands in the doorway and shivers, he can make his teeth chatter really well. We did have a windchill to -5C this morning.

We've got the heating on and the cloud base is somewhere down in the valley. Tomorrow is due to be sunny and warm then next week it is supposed to be dry and sunny but not warm. Typical Autumn weather up and down with a general trend downward. Probably snow by next weekend! But the colours are fabulous - I'll try and get out to take some pictures and load them up to Photobucket.

My Autumn cold has staged a comeback but I'm hoping it is a last gasp (for the cold, not me!)

Just starting my first cold  :'(. Should be nice tomorrow so will tackle the garden and get it ready for winter  :(  Never mind will soon be summer again.  I like the crisp cold mornings when its still.  Don't like the wind and rain though.

That is a drop and a half Sue.  One extreme to another.  I prefer it when it drops slowly and not so drastically poor you.

Those temperature changes are similar to ours here - one day 28C in the sun, the next 5C in the clouds

Typical Autumn for us and hence the wicked outbreaks of flu-like colds!
