I originally injured my knee in October, 2000, have had two knee arthroscopies with no success.  so this will be the beginning of my third year with knee issues.   oh, how I hate this.

I really can't put a date on my knee problems.  I do remember having problems when I was quite young with what is know as housemaid's knee after twisting my knees when rollerskating and that's not rollerblading so it was some time ago.

It probably was about 23 years ago or so.

Although it really all started off badly when I first tore my medial meniscus 12 years ago. I've only recently been having major problems since December '01 when I have a fall and had multiple injuries to my joints.

Past History of L&R Knee
Bilateral OA
Medial Meniscal Tears
Lateral Releases & Medial Reefings
Ruptured LCL, MCL & PCL
Adhesions in the interconylar notch of ACL removed
Suprapatella plication
Debridements/Lavages
Deep chondral fissure in crest of patella
Awaiting MRI - LK
TKR - RK

Hmm..trying to remember history..maybe work backwards:

February 2002 - Hurt knee skating again
May 2001 - Hurt knee just standing on it, full weight bearing
November 2001 - Hurt knee skating again
November 2000 - Hurt knee skating
November/December 1999 - Hurt knee skating, all I heard was a loud snap, and urgent care thought it was nothing.

So that makes it 3 1/2 years

Okay Theresa & Iona,

Add 1/4 of a century to your tally.  25 flippin years of lousy knee pain.  YIKES, I hope it is not genetic, my poor kids if it is.  but so far so good for them.

I would hate to see the total years.  It makes me cringe.

I've had knee problems going on for exactly 4 years in 10 days. My 3rd. year I got so depressed that I asked my doc to cut off my leg and give me one of those new bionic legs with an ice maker built in it. His reply: I would but the insurance company said they wont pay for the ice trays. I never get a break!! :)
There are 2 things in this world that hold true.
1) My knee hurts. 2) refer to #1.

Geez,  mine started my senior year in high school, 1990. I went to an ortho because I was having pain in my knees and hips when I was having to walk a mile a day in gym. He said I was showing early signs of arthritis and said to limit myself to upper body workouts. Funny that my current OS hasn't said a thing about arthritis and can't find anything wrong with my hips!
Arthroscopy 8/8/03 - partial meniscectomy (x2), chondroplasty, lateral release (failed). 1/04 - dx with "miserable alignment". 11/04 - dx patella baja.
