Anthony ~ An MCL tear will heal in 6-8 weeks but I wouldn't venture a guess as to the healing time of any other sort of MCL injury. Your OS will surely let you know. Wishing you well...Ellie

Thats not too long... but when a person pretty much lives sports.... not so good . I'm hoping for a short recovery but if it takes a long time then oh well.... all you can do

Thanks Ellie

Anthony ~ No way was I down & out for 8 weeks with the tear. As a matter of fact at 6 weeks I was back to riding my horse & having only some instability because of the ruptured ACL. It was the OS who manipulated my knee at 6 weeks & said the MCL was tightening nicely & should be back to best it's going to be in another couple of weeks. I've heard tell that once injured it's very difficult to achieve the pre-injury knee...Ellie

Which? The bad news or the good? <g> Hope for the best & work to get there. I'm well beyond the age where ACL reconstruction is done so I KNOW what I had isn't what I'm going to have. You, on the other hand are considerably younger & have a nice chance of regaining what you had...Ellie

The good haha . The bad... I just tried to forget about that part . Sometimes I feel like a tearing/ripping/grinding sensation there... could it be my MCL getting hurt more ?

I wouldn't venture a guess, Anthony. In the 2+ years since I did in my knee I've learned that it can present with a myriad of pains, aches, sensations & noises. Ice, elevate, take it easy & wait until your OS appointment.

Have you tried a brace or wrap to see if that makes any difference? I know when I've done something to my knee the neoprene sleeve brace gives it some support. So I'll wear it for a few days until it feels better. The custom brace designed to give stability in lieu of an ACL doesn't seem to be so effective or of as much comfort as the neoprene when I suspect further meniscal tearing or an LCL problem...Ellie

I've tried braces that you can get at a local pharmacy/walmart .... and they dont help . It doesnt work at all, so now I'm just waiting to see my OS .
Thanks
