Anybody seen this before?
« on: August 25, 2007, 04:36:06 PM »
It is a hard deposit or something on my knee cap. It hurt if you press on it. It hurts bad going up and down steps. Other then that walking is fine. You can only see it when my knee is bent.
I know I need it looked at but just wondering if anybody has seen this before or has an idea of what it may be.
Thanks!

This is the good knee

This is the bad knee

I have one just like it. My doctor says it's a bone spur. It's always hurt to kneel on it but just recently started hurting when my pants rub on it. He said he'd remove it when I felt like it but if it's not bothering me that much there's no need.

Hmm, most of my pain from it is going up and down stairs, do you have that too?

Just a little. It's not really the bone spur that causes pain but tendons and such getting irritated from rubbing on it. If it is a bone spur in your case then there's nothing you can do about it except have it surgically removed. They don't go away, they just get bigger over time. At least mine has. I'll end up having it removed at some point.

There's always the chance it's not a bone spur, only a doctor can tell you for sure.
