What do you think?
« on: August 01, 2007, 02:29:17 AM »
I have suddenly developed a soft lump at the base of my kneecap about the size of a quarter.  Looks and feels like fluid.  Can you advise what this might be and what caused it? Does it need medical attention or will it go away on it's own?
Thanks....

Hard to say for sure, but one possibility is an inflamed bursa. There are a lot of those around the kneecap. You'd need to provide more information about what you've been doing lately before anyone here could make a guess at what may have caused it. As to whether or not it needs to be looked at, I'd say that would depend on how it feels. If it hurts or is interfering in any way with the way your knee is functioning, then definitely go see someone about it. If not, I'd wait and see if it goes away on its own.

Hi

Read your post - it essential that you visit your doctor for a proper examination -

It could be nothing to worry about, but you need to have it examined.

Best wishes
