Patella Tilt in X Ray?
« on: July 31, 2007, 04:59:40 AM »
Hey all,

Waiting on a 6th dr visit for a hopeful diagnosis of my problem. Picked up my x rays from dr #4 and noticed he did not look at them and the sunrise was not included on the report. Not only was the x ray not viewed, but the radiologist flipped the film around so that my left leg says right and right says left. After a lot of researching, I believe I have come close to the diagnosis. When I bend my knee it tilts to the outside and looks different from my right. Found some helpful documents that led me to believe I have a tilted kneecap. Here is a pic, anyone have any comments?

Thanks! Shannnon

Yes thats a tilted kneecap. I had the exact same thing in my right leg before my LR and now its in my left. My x-ray looked exactly like yours execpt it tilted to the other side.

Thanks Clarinet,

In the midst of waiting for dr appts, I have only had my GP view the x ray, and because he isnt a knee specialist there isnt much to offer. Sorry to hear you went through and are going through the same thing. Im finding it difficult to handle pt, or at least afterwards, the pain is intense. Did you have pain in your knee and what brought you to the decision of surgery?

Thanks for your advice and help!

Yeah i still have a lot of pain in both knees. The reason i decided on surgery was because i am an athelete and am only 15 and been playing sports since i was 4....so sports are my life. I have knee problems since i was 8 or 9 and i had one surgery for a bone spur which made my kneecap tilt and that became unbearable and i hadnt been able to get back to sports and deperatly wanted to. So i had a LR (my 2nd op within a year) and i still havent gotten back to sports. For now the only thing im doing is marching band and even that feels like to much. Sorry for whining   :P  ::) . I get carryed away sometimes.
But if you have any questions id be HAPPY to answer them  ;D .

Thanks for the info. I will be sure to keep you in mind once I get more info on my knee. Im working on straightening it and everytime I do, when I walk, it feels like it pops out of place.

So frustrating , grr!
Cant believe you can have such awful knee problems at 15, Im 25 and I feel too young, but I guess knee problems have no age discrimnation. Hopefully this will be the last of your problems!  :)
