Finally getting an MRI
« on: July 31, 2007, 01:18:40 AM »
My original thread is here http://www.kneeguru.co.uk/KNEEtalk/index.php?topic=37933.0

Today's update - saw the doctor again (still just a regular doctor) for another followup. I gave them my entire list of issues and concerns and I will be getting an MRI scheduled (yay!) as well as another set of X-Rays done this coming Friday. The way it was described to me was..... sometimes fractures won't show up on the initial x-ray, but after waiting for two weeks, there will be an increase of (something..... ? I can't recall what she said - I was so tired after waiting for 2 hours) that will show up on the x-ray as they will be drawn towards the fractures and very visible. She also wanted to really check out the x-rays in the tibia region - she had asked me about the excess bruising all down my shin and asked if I had hit that area. I told her not that I can recall, but it's hard to really remember when everything hurts LOL!

In the mean time, she was willing to write me out of work completely, but I told her I had no problem going in for 4 hours per day, as I have way too much work that needs to be done for me to not be there, and she was fine with that. I said the swelling doesn't get to be obnoxious until mid-day anyway and I do try to keep my leg up.

I do suspect that once they get the MRI done and see what is really going on inside my knee, I will finally get that referral for the OS.

Appointment has been set for Friday - luckily the doc said she needed the MRI "stat" so that made the workman's comp insurance find me one that would take me within 24 hours.......... unfortunately nobody around had an opening and Friday was the first I could get in anywhere. That will work for me - Friday I get the MRI in the morning and the X-rays afterwards back at the docs.

Maybe after all this I will finally get the referral to the specialist I need.
