Question--help!!!
« on: July 23, 2007, 07:30:30 PM »
My knee pops when I climb the stairs.  I am lucky that I am not experiencing pain, but the popping sound is like fingernails on a chalkboard.  I do not recall a "cause" for the problem like a fall.  It has been going on for about 3 weeks now though.

Any comments as to what might be going on?  Do you think I need to see someone?  If so, who?

A popping sound with no pain is probably nothing to worry about. Though if you start experience pain, get swelling or other problems then it's time to visit a doc. Do you feel like the patella is popping ?

Nettan,

It doesn't feel like the Patella is popping.  The popping is coming from the upper outside portion of the knee.  Still think it's not a concern?  Thanks for your response!!

If you know any injury you might have had or if you somehow have strained a ligament then you should go check the knee.
