fell off tube behind boat, need some advice
« on: July 09, 2007, 08:08:55 PM »
I fell off an innertube being pulled behind a boat this weekend.  The fall was as if i landed on all fours, and my lower leg bent up with my foot hitting my rear end.  I did not feel anything pop, it felt like i smacked my other foot off the inner part of my knee on the top of the tibia.  i have had cartilage scoped on the same knee in the past, and it feels similar to my previous injury in a new spot.  the other injury was in the groove, can't remember the exact name, but i think it was something like "troclear" "tro-cle-ar".  this injury is definately not in the same spot.    After 24hours, i have minimal swelling around the area, but have some light pain and moderate stiffness.

I do not currently have insurance, and would like to know if anyone has any idea how much it may cost for an initial examination by a specialist, and the cost of MRI if necessary.  Also, because of my current insurance and financial situation, would it be ridicuous to wait a week or two and rest the joint to see if it shows any improvement.

Please only qualified professionals post responses.

I'm sorry I've tried to resist but can't, I see your post has been read many times, and no one has answered, I suppose like me they are unqualified unprofesionals, I'm not sure how many qualified proffesionals are around, but good luck getting an answer.

If you want to know costs, it may help to let people know were you are, I'm sure that costs vary, I'm lucky in Canada, I don't have to pay, just wait a long time, but I know an MRI is $700 canadian per body part.

Good luck with your injury and with getting responses

Waiting a week or two, but meanwhile RICE, rest, ice and elevate isn't wrong. If you problems continue or get worse don't go around with this too long though.
Surgery 6 times left knee torn meniscus, RSDS,chondromalacia, nervdamage cause constant nervpain, chronic inflamm.
Spinaldamage wheeler 100%.
Right knee damaged aug-06, use brace surgery 4/9-07.LCL tear.
