Pre ACL surgery -- what limits to activities?
« on: July 09, 2007, 07:03:21 AM »
I have a torn ACL and some small meniscal tears.  Right now I can walk around just fine with no pain, no pops and no give-outs.  I can't squat down fully without sharp pain, but that's it.

I postponed surgery until after my recent wedding and upcoming honeymoon.  On that trip, I have a chance to do a once-in-a-lifetime white water rafting trip on some big big water. I've been several times before, but can I now do that kind of activity with a torn ACL? I'm not quite sure what to expect with that kind of motion while injured. Thanks!

Maybe you should get yourself a brace before that. Talk with your OS or phys.
Surgery 6 times left knee torn meniscus, RSDS,chondromalacia, nervdamage cause constant nervpain, chronic inflamm.
Spinaldamage wheeler 100%.
Right knee damaged aug-06, use brace surgery 4/9-07.LCL tear.

The doc told me "let pain be your guide."  Under that philosophy, I could go jogging and then stop if it hurts, but with the rafting I most likely can't ask to stop and get off the ride.  I'm wondering if anyone's done anything like that kind of motion while similarly injured.  I will ask about the brace though, thanks.
