I had surgery on June 14, everything went fine but im in a lot of pain!

Its seems like the small incisions for the lateral release hurt worse than the 6 inch incision for the mpfl repair.

Im still quite swollen.

my question is, Im having pain below my knee on my leg.  it hurts a lot when i put weight on it. why would my leg hurt there from these two surgerys on my knee that are like 7 inches away from the pain site?

I hope its somewhat clear. The pain is keeping me awake. its 4:35 AM

Poking around in the knee while doing surgery can make the pain worse in the whole knee, not necessery where the cuts were done.
If the pain meds aren't enough call your OS or GP and try get something better.
When swelling goes down and the knee starts to heal everything will slowly get better.
If the knee is red, hot to touch or you have a temperature you can have an infection going on. If so you need to call your doc.
Try to RICE as much as possible..remember knee above heart level.
Surgery 6 times left knee torn meniscus, RSDS,chondromalacia, nervdamage cause constant nervpain, chronic inflamm.
Spinaldamage wheeler 100%.
Right knee damaged aug-06, use brace surgery 4/9-07.LCL tear.

i agree with Nettan,
RICE RICE RICE - and definitely knee above heart.

Its very soon after surgery - youre bound to be hurting in various places....
1986 - recurrent dislocations of right patella began
1988 - Modified Hauser Procedure
1991 - dislocations started again
2005 to 2007 - 150 dislocations in 2 years - OUCH!!!
June 2007 - new OS, new physio
Oct 2007 - VMO woke up
Mar 2008 - big quads, still dislocating
Apr 2008 - next OS app

It is normal to be terrified of pt especially the first time.  They won't do much.  You will get thru it fine.  You had a lot of soft tissue work done in that procedure and i am not surprised it is more painful than the other.  The size of the incision has nothing to do with the amoung of post op pain.  You're really early in the recovery stage.  It will start getting better real soon.  Pain and swelling have a direct correlation.

Good Luck and try to have patience.'

dont be terrified of PT - you will only have to do what you are able to do.
Its a controlled environment - nothing bad is going to happen.
Its also a great place to ask questons - the physios know a lot.

There will be pain, PT isnt easy - but its not terrifying, its just hard work. The harder you work now the quicker you will recover!!

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

After my LRs, I had a lot of pain down the shin of my leg, and with being up on crutches, my foot would get very swollen and purple, which scared me a lot, but didn't seem to alarm the doctor at all.  He just said it sounded like I needed to get a whole lot more rest and elevation.  He stressed I needed to take it slowly.
