I had my ACLR/Meniscus repair yesterday. Im supposed to keep it elevated like all the time, when it is elevated it hurts pretty bad. this normal?

4-20-09 MRI confirmed torn ACL
5-19-09 ACL reconstruction
12-26-10 sucessfully returned to skiing!!!

i was told that keeping an area elevated helps keep swelling down, the idea is to have it higher than your heart (or just as high as possible), have you got the whole leg elevated?
Its probably just hurting bad right now cos youve just had the surgery - if youve worried about it call your OS (or hospital or whoever is best to call) and ask about it.
But try not to worry - youre body doesnt like surgery - its gonna hurt, but not for too long hopefully.

1988 - Modified Hauser Procedure
1991 - dislocations started again
2005 to 2007 - 150 dislocations in 2 years - OUCH!!!
June 2007 - new OS, new physio
Oct 2007 - VMO woke up
Mar 2008 - big quads, still dislocating
Apr 2008 - next OS app
