Knee injury question... Please Help
« on: June 11, 2007, 01:33:30 AM »
Hello to all.
I injured my knee at work (i fainted and ended up in a scissor split sitting on my left knee).
I had immed swelling unable to bear weight.
I went to ortho 2 days later per er md order and they aspirated 20cc of blood from my knee. They ordered and mri and stated that there is probaly something torn but they were unable to tell due to my leg hurting so bad.  now I have small amt of pain to the back of my knee deep inside and the knee is unstable. :'(

do you all think I have an acl tear? what else would cause bleeding into the joint? xrays were negatiive for breaks or fractures.

Please advise
D-

Ouch that must have hurt!

Bruising and hematomas are common occurrences in ACL Tears, but you won't know for sure until some of the swelling subsides and you can get the MRI repeated.  Because you have instability too that could also indicate an ACL tear.  Regardless, RICE!  Rest Ice Compression and Elevation!  We have our own little are here in the forum under the Specialists office  Cruciate Ligaments, you should come over there, you'll get lots of support and answers to your questions.
Good luck!
