What is wrong with me?
« on: April 15, 2007, 07:28:07 PM »
I am having horrible knee problems. This is primarly in my left leg. My entire leg goes numb and my thigh muscles tighten to the point where they actualy hurt more then my knee. When I touch my knee I get a nauseated feeling and tremble or twitch uncontrolably. I have been to the doctor and they have suggested that it is Patella Femoral Syndrome but I have a hard time beliving this considering how I can not elievate this pain no matter what I do. Night time is the worst. I lay in bed and try to find positions to lay in where I do not hurt but nothing seems to work for long. Sometimes my foot falls asleep for no reason and my left arm has done the same. I have been to the emergency room with a panic attack and to the doctor three times but all they have offered me is physical therapy. The doctor makes me feel like I am over reacting and dosen't take me seriously which is the most painful thing of all. I feel like I have no one to turn to. I can barely climb stairs at this point and am at my wits end. Furthmore this isn't something I have been experiencing for a long time but only started about three weeks ago and is worsening with every day. Would this Patella Syndrome be so sudden?

Hi!  Has anyone checked to see if the problem is in your back (disk or nerve)?  The fact that your arm and leg are both involved would make me wonder whether it is a"knee problem."  I have patella femoral syndrome. The numbness and twitching sound more nerve related than patella femoral related.  Good luck and keep us posted

They have scheduled a visit with a neurologist for next May. It seems like they are in a big hurry to help me. They want me to start physical therapy for the knee this Wednesday. I don't even know if a neurologist is the type of specialist I need so what will probalbly happen is that he or she will just rerefer me to someone else. I feel like a ping pong ball.

I don't see how I am going to get threw a day a work like this. I've been using up all my vacation thus far but I am running out so I am going to try to resume working on Monday.

If it is something to do with nerves, ie your back or something... then a neurologist is exactly who you need. And a neurologist will be able to figure out what is causing hte problems. I hope you get some help soon, sounds frustrating and of course, painful.

Hi,

I agree that this sounds back/nerve related and that a neurologist is probably the correct person to see.  Can they possibly get you in any earlier??  You shouldn't have to be in that kind of pain for that long a period of time.

Feel better.

I was supposed to get another MRI in May but my parents scheduled an appointment with another doctor who said there was absolutely no reason to wait til then. So now I have an MRI tomorrow.

I would try to go to a different doctor. Maybe he could offer a solution other than Patella Femoral Syndrome or schedule an appointment with a neurologist earlier.

Hugs!
