I need some advice, this is my first post.
« on: April 06, 2007, 02:10:47 PM »
I had a lateral release on Dec 27, 2006, after an accident at work.  Did therapy and home exercises, and I do not have shooting pains in my knee anymore, but now my knee cap is locking when I bend or move just right.  The doctor has now said the only thing to do is to go back in and do a ( I'll try to get this right), an Anterior Medial Tibrical Tubercle.  I'm trying to find things on the web about this, I do know it's more extensive, any help would be greatly appreciated.  thanks so much.
Tracy

Hi Tracy,  you don't indicate what type of injury you had at work.  Typically the only thing that a LR really helps is a tilted patella.  It is done often, but not always for the right reasons.  I think that you are referring to a TTT.  Here is a link to the page.

http://www.kneeguru.co.uk/html/steps/step_05_patella/realignment03.html

Information on the patella can be found on the home page of this website under patella.  Is is found on the distal realignment portion of the patella page.

6/03/89 - First Knee Cap Disclocation
7/05/89 - Returned to work
6/17/06 - Tramatic Knee Cap Dislocation and Vertical Fractured Patella
6/28/06 - ORIF - Screws - no wires
8/24/06 - Ditched the brace - start PT
9/20/06 - First spinning
1/15/07 - screw removal, LR , VMO Advanc  & patella cleanupl

Thanks for answering.  My fall at work was do to a handicapped client was falling and fell on my, which we both went to the floor, and my right knee twisted, and when to doctor did an MRI, he found just that my knee cap was tilted, and did the lateral release, and now my knee cap is locking up, as I said.  I'll check out the main page for those that you suggested.  Thanks again.  Tracy

This is the best place I found for TTT and related issues. There is limited info about the procedure, but I have gained more knowledge from this BB. Basically the surgery is re-aligning the knee cap. There is more than just this but it is a start for your investigation.

Good luck

Thank you stern.  Any information is great right now.  I'm making a list of questions, generated from this site for my doctor on the 23rd.
