severe knee pain from football and jogging
« on: March 23, 2007, 05:48:40 PM »
Hi everyone, this is my first post so apoligies if its in the wrong place!

Im a 22 year old who plays 5 a side indoor once a week, and train and play outdoor astro turf once a week also, in between days i often go running small distances. Over the last few weeks however ive developed a severe pain in my right knee after playing. At first i thought rest would do it good so had 2 weeks off all activity, now i seem to play or train with the
pain coming back within an hour or two of finishing, and lasting for 2 days, only to go and come back again after even just some light running.
The pain is just below my right knee cap and to the right of centre, walking is painful however going downstairs or down a gradient is absolutely agony (going up a flight of stairs the pain is much less) for a couple of days until it subsides again.

There is no swelling of the knee and no bruising or marks and so my GP just advises rest however ive tried this but to no avail as playing again brings it back?

Any advice would be much appreciated, do you think i should just pay to go see a sports injury clinic?

Many thanks,

Matt

A typical injury for soccer and running is patellar tendonitis, ever heard of that..

Just a thought.
Surgery 6 times left knee torn meniscus, RSDS,chondromalacia, nervdamage cause constant nervpain, chronic inflamm.
Spinaldamage wheeler 100%.
Right knee damaged aug-06, use brace surgery 4/9-07.LCL tear.

Hi thanks for that Nettan will check it out and mention to GP on next visit.
See also the possibility of referral to a specialist. I'd question the ability of your GP to find satisfaction for you in this.
