swollen knee

my knee has been swollen since last monday. i have tried everything to get it down, in Pt on thursday all i did was laser, stim and ice. i have been icing it at home and staying off of it. is there anything else i could do? thanks for the help

Margaret,

What did you do to your knee originally? Did you bang it or do anything else to bring on the swelling? Ice is about the only thing along with elevation to help bring that swelling down.

If it continues see your os.

Surgery 6 times left knee torn meniscus, RSDS,chondromalacia, nervdamage cause constant nervpain,chronic inflamm.
Spinaldamage wheeler 100%.
Right knee damaged aug-06, use brace surgery 4/9-07.LCL tear.

peggy - i have the graston technique done in pt since the end of november, and all of a sudden it started to swell again. my pt was going to talk to my os this weekend.

nettan -  yes i have been elevating it above my heart.

it is where they try to break up some of the scar tissue that is in my knee, before my surgery that i am having on april 3rd

how about gentle exercises - might find it helps shift some swelling - fresh blood top the joint?

'cos when the joint is moved about you get better blood flow - just like using ice - it moves the blood away and new blood comes in - yeah I know it is circulating all the time - do you know what I mean - it was something the physio was explaining - good if you have an appt tomorrow - you can get a proper opinion.

i do what you mean. i can not wait until my PT place is opening a new place with a pool. my pt said i will be the first one to go in, the is on the 26th. i am looking forward to that.

water exercise is supposed to be wonderful. My pt doesn't have a pool at the location I go to. The other local is too far and with my husbands work schedule I would never make it.
