Margaret,

What did you do to your knee originally? Did you bang it or do anything else to bring on the swelling? Ice is about the only thing along with elevation to help bring that swelling down.

If it continues see your os.

Hi Margaret
how about gentle exercises - might find it helps shift some swelling - fresh blood top the joint?

'cos when the joint is moved about you get better blood flow - just like using ice - it moves the blood away and new blood comes in - yeah I know it is circulating all the time - do you know what I mean - it was something the physio was explaining - good if you have an appt tomorrow - you can get a proper opinion.

water exercise is supposed to be wonderful. My pt doesn't have a pool at the location I go to. The other local is too far and with my husbands work schedule I would never make it.

I don't like the ocean. I love the beach and the sights and smell of the ocean, but I guess I saw Jaws too many times. Jellyfish yuck!!

Margaret,

Sorry to hear that your knee swelled again, but that is normal after using it. BTW, how long has it been since you hurt your leg?

You did fall on ice and hit your knee or twist ? Just asking out of curiousity. My left knee was damaged cause I slipped on ice an twisted my knee..now 10 years ago. From beginning thought that was something simple..but as pain only got worse after every surgery and procedure turned out I had nerve damage and developed RSD... ::)
I can read in bottom line that you await surgery..is that this knee ?
Swelling can be there for many reasons..though if you worry and this continue never wrong to call your OS.

yes, bc i was wondering when i would sign the consent. when i had shoulder surgery done i signed it before surgery in the doctor's office. also my pt wants to observe my surgery, so i should ask him about that too. my pt was going to talk to him about that as long as i do not mind that he is there. but i am almost wondering if i will see him when i have pre-op done at the surgery center, if he is there that day.

yes, he does. i think it is a good idea because he is always wanting to learn new things, he would then know what exactly is done on the knee as he is not quite sure why the graston techinque is not working. the graston technique is where they break up scar tissue incase you forgot. he would not come in until i am already to be cut open, after everything is ready.

You will have surgery to clean out scar tissue right ?
If so there's no wonder why your knee swell right now.
Interesting that your PT want to look and learn. But that's good for both him and you.
