Hi, Im just wondering if anyone has had a knee operation at Kings Mill Hospital (nottinghamshire) im due to have a operation but not sure to proceed there as im not 100% confident with the consultant,i,ve tried to find out information on the surgeon, credentials/ etc, but found nothing.Does anyone know of a good knee surgeon at that hospital?  or one's to avoid !

i've also been given some names by a private pt to surgeons at Qmc (nottm) dr david hahn /dr Paul Szypryt, but again i know nothing about them, has anyone had a knee operation at qmc? and is there any good knee surgeons worth seeing there?

any feedback will be appreciated
many thanks

Hey Del,

Maybe the best thing to do is to ask the consultant at Kings Mill hospital about him/herself. See what they have done previously voice your concerns to them and see if they can aleviate these concerns you have.  If the OS can not i suggest that you do find another surgeon, I personally feel that you have to hav 100% confidence that your OS knows what he/she is doing, whether on the NHS or paying privately.

I had Arthroscopy don eby Hahn, about 2/3 years ago now at QMC on the NHS, thought he was a good OS, i had confidence in him 100%, had been recomended to by a Pro cricketer who had seen him previously.  He cleaned up the knee and was put on the wait list for recon right knee.  Was to be done by Hahn but got transferred to the Nuffield by the NHS and was done by another guy.

I am also due to go into Hospital on the 12th Feb 2007 to have ACL recon of right knee, this time OS is Szypryt, he has been good also to date, knowledgable (knee specialist, as is Hahn i think), and a nice guy with it, good manner, am again 100% confident in him as my surgeon, again this is on the NHS.

Both dr David Hahn and dr Paul Szypryt have been good in my experience.

As i say i am in to see dr Paul Szypryt on Mon 12 Feb, so will let you know how i go on after this surgury but to date can agree with the pt who recomended them to you.

Hope this helps and good luck getting back to full fitness.

hi and thanks for your response :)
it'll be my 4th op with the os, ive checked his credentials via  MBBS,MS(Orth),DNB(Orth),MCh(Orth),FRCS(Orth) that's more than doctors hahn, forster and sypryt,it's giving me a real headache i dont know what to do ,i think i will get a private consultation with one of the above,as i feel my current os has not considered all possibilities.
many thanks again
