You need to go very slow... My issue was different, but I walked without crutches only at home (in baby steps) for 3 or 4 weeks, before I adventured myself out in the street without them.

If you force too much you take risks of damaging other stuff, because your muscles are weak, and all force is conducted to Meniscus, cartilage, etc.

So be patient and make a slow and gradual transition to make sure you are safe. Walk all you want when your muscles are strong. Recovering from post-op muscle atrophy takes time and during that time other things are at risks...
