screw removal
« on: February 08, 2007, 05:28:41 PM »
I was wondering if anyone had experience with acl screw removal... I am having a medial meniscus transplant soon and my doctor said that he wants to remove the screw from my acl (into femur) from my previous acl recon because he said my surgeon apparently didnt use a good screw and this one could harm the graft. So... I am just curious if anyone knows the procedure for this... does it come out easy??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!

I had a screw removed 6 months after it was inserted, no problems with that procedure.

I believe the normal setting time is one year, but I had an infection and the OS wanted to remove anything that might be harbouring it.

Dacron ACl 1992, failed 2000
Hamstring ACL revision 03/2006
ITB catching on femoral pin
Pin hammered further in 28/06
Infection 09/07
debridement antibiotic irrigation X 6
Notchplasty 24/11 infection pin removed

ACL coming out 20/02/07
