A nightmare on new year's day 2007
« on: January 05, 2007, 03:53:50 AM »
Hello everyone...my boyfriend was stabbed in the leg by a possible gang member, which severed his peroneal nerve.  He's terrified of undergoing surgery tomorrow, so I've been trying to find success stories and articles about full recovery from this trauma.  Unfortunately, I haven't found any good news except for the fact that nerves do heal and that he's a young patient (28 yrs old) which is beneficial for the nerve to grow back.  If anyone has had an injury with this nerve, with a postive outcome, please share this with me.  Also, is there anything he can do to promote healing of this nerve?

thanks,
kt

Hi KT,

Have a look in the 'Success Stories' section towards the bottom of the main department list. There is a thread there that has several people contributing who are at various stages of their rehab. Is your boyfriend getting a nerve graft? He has to be aware that nerve regeneration is a slow process.
