Insuarance Cover
« on: December 11, 2006, 11:50:19 AM »
I haven't got the ok yet from the Insurance company that they will cover my ACI's (Both knees, 1 a year) and wondered if any of you have had it done using insurance and if you had any problems. To be fair i only had a quick chat over the phone and the person i spoke to said he thought it was covered but had to check.

As far as i can see the operation has been ok'd by NICE??.

I saw one thread from the states that said his insurance paid for the operation but wouold not pay for the hire of a cpm machine when he got home.

I am in the uk, so this may make a difference.

Do any of you know if:

1. ACI is fully recognised by insurance companies?

2. ACI using CARES system is recognised by insurance companies yet?

If i am being thick here then please tell me??????

Hi Keppy

I had my CaReS MACI done on the NHS. Is this not an option for you or have I missed something in your earlier threads?

It probably is an option but by using the insurance i can time it when i want it. Thanks for your info, i will speak to my OS and see what he says but if the NHS allow it then i am pretty confident that the insurance companies will ok it too.

Cheers
