new to kneegeeks
« on: December 05, 2006, 08:10:06 PM »
Hi there, I ruptured my ACL riding racehorses, a loud crack, and almost three months later am finally due for surgery on the 20.12.06. I was in denial to begin with, so a week after the initial injury, with much pain started riding again! However, about two weeks ago, a horse shied, and as we ride with really short stirrups, my knee twisted and crunched badly. Since then I have received the MRI results and I also had 3 tears to the meniscus. Guess I just added another one!!!

Anyhow, great to find a site like this as riding is my life and I am very deppressed that I probably cant ride for at least 6 months.

Welcome to the world of ACLrs..  sorry that it happened but this is a great place for information and support.  There is a board here under the Specialist department called Cruciate ligaments.  If you post there you will get a lot more responses and responses specific to your acl and meniscus injury ( the two often go together.)   6 months sounds right..  I am 6 months and a few days post op and I am testing for my next belt level on Saturday..   I was back at it with a lot of restrictions at 1 month post op....   good luck.
