leg extensions...
« on: October 15, 2006, 12:36:47 PM »
I've heard a lot of controversy about this leg extension exercise...doing a lot of resps at a low weight ....any benefit to getting the quad stronger? My OS said that wall squat is best to strenthen quad....anyone experience benefit from these?

Three OS said never to do extensions with patella defects, yet my PT had me firing away on them, so it is no wonder I tore cartilage from my kneecap.......Anyways,my quad has atrophied so bad that I just started hammering these with the lowest weight on the machine & high reps.  However, I only go up to about 30 degrees or so b/c the pain is too much if I go higher.  Just that much has had the quad burning, shaking & feeling strong again. My PT's were idiots and screwed up my leg permanently it seems so I will now do stuff on my own that works & this has worked so far & I am hoping for the best.

Yeah....it seems light weight....high reps one leg at a time works best for me....i only do then once a week does it matter how fast u do them? i try to do them slower (more difficult--more burn on quads)The leg press works my quads the most...i alternate high/low rep exercises on press
