How often do you rehab/exercise?

Heres a quick question for everyone...   How often do you do knee rehab work/exercises?   

-Daily? (how many times a day)

-Every other day? (how many times on that one day)

-Every couple days (how many times on that day)


I'm just curious as to how often people are exercising....

Well, that really depends.From 5-8 months post op i wasnt almost doing no exercises,maybe played some footy only with myself or walked around,lawned the grass or whatever.No serious gym work so to tell.
When i was 2-5 months post op, i went to gym ,and almost everyday, i spent about 2 hours each day.One day i did the upper body,other i did lower body and sometimes i did both.It really depends on the mood you are or time you have etc.At the moment i try to visit gym twice a week,where i do upper and lower body on both times and i swim twice a week atleast,working mostly my legs,but also upper body.I usually train about 1-2 hours per day.And i also cycle to school now,which is also quite good for knees,as i can really feel burning in muscles as i climb the hill,on where the school is located.

Henri, I saw that other thread, but I guess Im more interested in how often...  I know everyone has their own routines, and I do as well...  I just wanted to know how often...  daily, every other day, 1x-week, etc.   

It seems to me that everyone probably starts out daily in the first month of two, then goes to 3/4x week after a few months, then its less seldom the further along in the rehab.

So, how often everyone?

Ooops, I guess I should have stated myself how often I do rehab.

I currently do a 30 minute walk every day (at noon), and I do a rehab routine (about 60-75 min) once a day as well, usually early evening.  So twice a day I concentrate on the knee.

I'm trying to stick to this daily: morning,  light leg workout (rehab stuff), then, afternoon or evening in the gym (full body) for over an hour or so. A light bike ride (~4 mile r/t) to the train 3-4 times per week.

Weekends, more walking and daily activities, less gym.

Optimally, I'd squeeze another light leg rehab workout in the evening, but I have some patellar pain I'm dealing with.
torn RK ACL March 2001, surgery Aug. 14 2006, after 4 knee sprains since Oct. '05.  Allograft, ~40% medial meniscus removed, some wear in the trochlear groove. Everything else looks good.

I'm about 9 weeks post op and i do about 2 hours a day on average, normally an hour of rehab stuff and an hour of somthing else like gym, swimming, walking etc.

Every now and then i miss a day and i usually feel really good the day after which makes me think it should be one day on one day off....

Im currently at 3wks post op. So im doing rehab every day as often as i can. Hopefully i should maintain that aswel. Theres no reason for me not to.

I'm in TKD 4 times per week for 2 hours...   most weeks I get in an hour walk the days I dont do TKD...    when I first injured, I did knee specific exercises every day....

I'm also in TKD 4-5 days a week 1 1/2 - 2 hours a day.  I'm at the gym 3-4 days a week and walk for an hour every day.

daily for the first 2-3 months, now 3-4 times per week.
LEFT KNEE: ACL and medial meniscal tear Sept 05.
Arthroscopy Jan 06.
Hamstring ACLR Apr 06.

RIGHT KNEE: meniscal tear 2008. Partial meniscectomy 2008 and again 2009.

About 6 days / week.


And I have good combinations of sports too - that makes it easier - I have regular training (gym) where I cycle my routine between strength, endurance and power (4-5x / week), I have martial arts where I apply flexibility and speed and power (3-4x / week) and I have competitive soccer games (1-2x / week).

Sep-05 ACL rupture, Medial mensical tear, MCL rupture
Oct-05 Had it all repaired (hamstring graft, meniscal rivet)
-and then-
4.5 Months post-op Snowboarding like a demon
7 Months post-op Successful return to indoor soccer (YEH!)
-and then-
Mar-2015 Arthroscopy to fix meniscus

I train 4 times per week but only train my legs once per week.

Natural bodybuilding champions, who obviously are aiming to get bigger and stronger legs, only train them hard and intensively once per week otherwise they dont get the best benefit from training.

John,

You are probably onto something there... I really only train legs and core muscles - I do very little upper body these days and I reckon I am in some sort of permanent fatigue state...

Funnily enough though, my upper body is in better shape than ever now that I dont train it- I have a problem with my upper body - it bulks up if I just look at the bench press - and I really dont want to bulk up my upper body. My legs are the opposite, they dont bulk up and I am working them all the time!

feeny,this could also be due to the fact that you have much more and bigger muscles in your upper body.right? ::)
