sudden swelling around incision
« on: September 12, 2006, 05:15:52 PM »
I had a partial mesicetomy of both lateral and medial meniscus 10 days ago. Recovery was going well, the swelling was gone fast and I was doing PT exercises on daily basis. My PT tld me I can do strenth training with small weights so i went to the gym yesterday, warmed up on the bike did some general PT exercises and proceeded to the quadriceps machine. I put no weight on it, just lifted the machine itself with the injured leg only. I did 3 or 4 reps and then in a matter of seconds right in front of my eyes a ping pong sized swelling appeared around one of the incisions. It felt soft with almost no pain, as if it just got filled with water or blood inside. Does anyone know what that was all about? Thanks a lot.

Get some ice on it and take it slower..maybe your knee isn't ready for all that actions yet.
This is not unusual and a sign that you need to slow down a bit.
Hope you feel better soon.
