Tegs, good luck with your phys today...glad to hear that your OS appointment went well.
Swelling in leg after a long day so close to surgery as you are is not uncommon.
Do ankle pumps and try to elevate as much as possible.
Hope you have a great day !!

Hiya

Just come back from physio 4 th session ,she said im doing really well, she said im going to be walking with a limp for about 3 to 4 months as my leg hasnt been used to walking normal for 7 years.
she said my exercises are coming along nicely and that i got to keep going with them
and now have to work on straightening the leg properly and quads, she said im going to be like this for a while, but im doing really well, she said the twinges should start to go over the next few weeks now.

I also asked her about retearing the meniscus and she said because the tear had been cut out, im not at any disadvantage im the same as everyone else, it could retear if i fall over and twist, so for me to stop worrying about it

I felt i really achieved something this morning and I am going to keep the exercises up she said in 3/4 weeks I should seea real difference as she can see a difference in just a week, I was sooooooooo pleased.

I have new exercises now- side steps, knee raises stanind up and heel kicks.

she said all the surgery inside should of healed now, and all the twinges and sensations are muscles, sp not to worry.

she is a really good PT i really like her

thats me checking in for today

Well done. Seems like you're really doing better now. Positive is always better. Keep going & thanks for your kind words when my Mum died a few weeks ago.

Hi Terssa, just came across your post now.
I was just going to say that during your PT you may have times of ups and downs. Some days you feel something that scares you or puts you back a couple days because of something new in exercises. It's normal. You just keep working as best as you can in PT. And tell them what you are experiencing so they can adjust your exercise plan accordingly.
You got a lot of good advice from everyone here.

It is going to take time!  Your brain has to teach the leg how to walk all over again. It is best to take SLOW deliberate steps than to limp around and make that other leg work more than it has to.

Remember , I was on crutches for 7 weeks for a simple trim.
Even now , almost 2 years after surgery I still have to think about how I walk at times when it aches. But I feel so much better now , losing some weight and being more active. It all goes hand in hand. And there is no bigger boost to your morale when you make some progress in that area.
Yes, it takes work. but the rewards are great!

Do your best and don't give up !!! Ron.

PT is definitly full of ups and downs. I remember when I was in PT for my right knee, I managed to sprain my left ankle. I think everyone in the therapist place got a good chuckle out of that one, especially when they saw me trying to walk in. I didn't know which leg hurt more. It's sometimes a two steps foward, one step back kind of thing but you get to the end eventually.
May 2005: Torn PCL, misdiagnosed as chondromalacia
April 2010: pain worse, lots of instability
