Hey Teresa,
Well done with getting off the pain meds. having said that - if you need them at any point then take them. There's no point in trying to deal with pain you can do something about.
Keep up with those exercises and your stiffness will go away.
We're all here to support you.
Take care,
Laura x

Hi Teresa,
If you have no pain now, just some stiffness, are you able to use just one crutch or no crutches yet? Don't do it unless you feel confident enough though. Maybe ask for advice about ditching your crutches from your OS on Tuesday.
I'm still using one or both of mine most of the time but I think now for me it's partly psychological and lack of confidence in my knee.
Have you found that heated pool yet? There must be one somewhere near to you, I'm sure. Alternatively, do you have a jacuzzi bathor know someone who does? It would work wonders with flexibility I reckon.
Take care,
Laura x

Been a bit down today, my walking is terrible around the house, i limp terrible, and cant stand with feet apart for longer than a minute i seem to be putting all the weight through good leg not operated leg. will this eventually go.
Its been 5 weeks now and I thought i would be up and walking and all this back to normal, why is it taken so long,,,, its just a matter of patients, its really annoying me.
seeing os tom, will be asking him about all this.
I dont know whether i have trained my brain to think there is more wrong in the knee, or the muscle twinges and little stings and stiffness getting tome, does anyone know how long this will last.
on a postive note... kids go back to school tom. yeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Hi - I think the preoccupation and worry continues for quite awhile! Like years?....But the stiffness will abate over time; keep doing all the things you're doing - the exercises, moving, using ice, I agree w/Laura about pain meds or even ibuprofen or whatever works for you as needed, especially at night so you can rest. I was fortunate to be able to use a friends' spa and that really helped me bend my leg and get the ROM, along with the PT. You still have swelling that won't really go away for a few more weeks. There was a point when I realized I was walking without thinking about it! That was probably 8-10 weeks postop. You're doing just right - just hang in there. Recovery takes a long time. the main thing is, you're upright, and moving, and making slow progress.
