Hi Cass reflex sympathetic dystrophy and complex regional pain syndrome, take a look at the dictionary on the main site they are both explained there and they add up to the same thing in simplest terms more pain than there should be (or would be expected) for the injury or surgery.
18/06/05 Injured trampolining
Fixed Flexion 20-90 deg until...
01/09/05 lateral meniscectomy (40%)
09/06/06 Patella tendon aclr
09/09/06 Back on the tramp (carefully)
10 years on and still going strong
!!Stop twisting when you land or it hurts!!

Cass,
Are you just curious or do you need more info on this. If you decide you need more info one of the best sites I liked was Forgrace.org. It really describes this in layman's terms by a doc. Hope you're just curious !! I was really diagnosed with this. Many on this topic would post under the RSD site. Many there can answer any questions you might have.
