We ended up with a lot of snow, blowing around and drifting, and very cold. Luckily I didn't need to go out today because there was a big drift outside the garage right behind my car. With hubby out of town and my son busy at work, I thought I was out of luck. But this afternoon the doorbell rang and there was this angel of a man asking if I wanted to have my driveway dug out. But get this....he only asked for $10! How wonderful! I truly believe it was a gift from God.

Janet, $10? what a deal, bet hubby was excited too.

Anj, freshly squeezed OJ is great for you and since you have easy access to fruits & veggies - its a win/win situation.

Can you believe this!

A friend of mine went into hospital for a PKR last week Friday and got as far as the anaetetists room - all gowned and marked up and then the OS sent someone out to say that he had changed his mind and they were not doing it!!!!

She went back to see him the next day and he examined her and said it did need doing but to wait as he thought she was too young (same age as me!)

Bloody incredible!

yeah of course - but what for ? thinking he has your best interests  at heart?  Trouble is the more people take this line of action the less others will try to help.
It's like car insurance - everyone now sues for the tiniest bit of whiplash and premiums go up - no one wins.

Sorry Bonnie

Yes she has put a complaint in writing to the hospital so have no doubt something will come of it - think she is now going to arrange to see my os. He works at the same hospital where her brother in law is financial director - so hopefully she will do some name dropping! It's strange actually - someone else at work yesterday said that his TKR had been cancelled - another local hosp but they are all funded by the same area so maybe they spent all the money one me! ::)

Really not good enough though!

I think I would scream if that happened to me. I'd be so angry I would just burst open. That would be ugly....a lot to clean up! Anyway, it doesn't seem right that he waited until that time to tell her. And then he wouldn't even do it face to face, but sent someone else to break the news.

I had this thought that I would wake up from the surgery and the OS would tell me he didn't do anything after all....that once he was "inside" my knee nothing was wrong and I was just being a wimp. Of course that didn't happen. But your friend's experience was close!

Anja, no need to apologize  :).

So glad she can name drop.  that man should not be practising medicine - he's an insult to the medical profession.  But that is strange that it happened to someone else you know - maybe both OS's had more important things to do those days...like playing golf!!!!!

hey ho! Having been discharged by my OS will be back to see him sooner than he was hoping - My GP has referred my son back to him tor his torn meniscus/cartalidge (whichever - don't know the difference) Hopefully we won't have to wait too long ::) MY son is doing 'A' Level PE and doing the sport bit is quite a big part of it - don't think they can take his rugby into account this time as they used that for his GCSE (A grade - clever boy!)

Anj, that's too bad for your son. Do you think he'll need surgery? I hope it turns out to be a "minor" tear. It's not a good sign when the OS knows all the members of your family by first name!

Hi Janet

Don't know about surgery - trouble is that this sort of thing doesn't tend to repait itself - and he has already had it trimmed 2 years ago when he had his acl reconstructed, so will just have to wait and see. - Prob usual thing - 3 month wait to see OS then months for MRI then if surgery req'd - another 6 month wait - so frustrating. The Gp and the hosp physio didn't see the point in him going to physio as it wouldn't fix the fault - so really can only see that surgery would be the answer.

Anja,
That stinks!  Meniscus is a type of cartiledge in the knee, the cushion between the bones, I believe.  The other type of cartledge is called articular, it backs the kneecap  and maybe somewhere else.
