Running with weights
« on: June 03, 2006, 02:32:21 AM »
A few months ago I began running with weights round my ankles, after a week I was in a lot of pain I've been taking it easy since then but sometimes I can be in awkward pain and sometimes alot. The pain is in hte muscle below my knee cap, can someone help? Is it just a matter of waiting or do I need a new doctor?

You have probably overdone your knees by running with weights.
The bets you can do is RICE, rest, ice, compress and elevate.
Maybe some antiinflammatory meds could be useful too.
If you not feel better in a couple of weeks go get help.

I agree with Nettan, RICE to start, if still a problem by next weekend see a doc.

When the knees feel better, PLEASE, DO NOT EVER run with weights on you ankles.   :'(BAD BAD for the knees, almost guarenteed to hurt your knees.  :o  Of you must run with weights use a vest so the weight is caried by your body, and only do that on ocassion.  There are better ways to get stronger.

Good Luck!
