Could this be a meniscus tear?

Hey everyone hows it going?!? I had soccer games to play and ref yesterday. I was wondering what are the signs of a meniscus tear? i think i might have torn something in my left knee which, until today wasnt bothering me at all. I was running and i stepped in a hole on the feild. When i stepped my leg was perfectly straight and i heard my knee pop and felt pain instantly. I told my coach to pull me out and let me catch my breath (i didnt tell him it was my other knee that was hurt this time). I walked it off and continued playing for the rest of the game. It isnt bothering me that much, its a bit swollen and its throbbing. If a step with a staight leg it feels like i have a knife in my leg. I was thinking if this is a meniscus tear or something than im going to need surgery on this knee too !!! If it gets worse my momma's gonna take me in!!! GOOD LUCK!!! Hope youre doing well!!!

Hi Chelsea...
It sounds like you did something to irritate it, especially if you are still having pain. I would ask your doctor about it to be certain that you are okay. Keep in mind that when I was having continuous problems with my left knee, my right knee became much more sensitive due to all the extra work I was making it do. I would really ask the doctor thought if it is still bothering you tomorrow...
Sorry!

If you heard it pop it could be your ACL. When they tear you usually can hear it. Menicus tears aren't usually heard.

OU man!Sorry to hear about your another problem. Some guys are just ou so unlucky, when it comes to knees. Some people live on with no injuries to their knees, but some tear something in one knee for some freaky accident ,which heals and then comes the other freaky accident, what are the odds of that, specialy you ,finding the right hole on the field.
I am also amazed of the weekness of human knees. What an Earth did they do like 10000 years ago, when they were chasing a mammoth and stepped in the deep snow somehow and his palls crashed into him.Did he visited his Doctor and then had MRI and after that few operations? It is amazing how easily knee can be injured, absofreakinnutely amazing!
Anyway, sorry to say ,but the pop is the indication of a acl injury.I also had unhappy triad on one knee, and then i was just walking down the hill and got stuck in the snow and tored probably something in my other knee,in one year!
I wish i had done life insurance, when the things started to happen to me:P
Anyway ,dude,i wish you ALL the best at the doctor visit and lets hope all the best.Hang on!

Our legs are designed to walk on uneven ground. My theory is that because of the last hundreds of years we have been walking on shoes and even surfaces that our knees have become weaker.

Well my doc says that im going to have surgery on my right knee on the 23rd of this month. Ive got a bone spur thats half the size of my pinky finger stuck under my tendon!!! When they go in theyll have to cut through the tendon to get to the bone. My Os said that it depends on how far theyll have to cut through the tendon as to how much pain ill be in and the recovery time afterwards!!! Hope evrything is going well for you all!!!
