what's going on here? should I be concerned?
« on: May 01, 2006, 04:08:56 AM »
I'm a liitle bit over 4 months post-op from ACL reconstruction.  I tore my ACL and medial meniscus, but when I had surgery I was told that the meniscus didn't have to have anything done to it.  I have been working with my athletic trainer at my college (I play division III field hockey - that's how it happened), and recently I got to try running for the first time.  I walked for 4 mins, ran for 1, and did that three times only.  I had been biking and using the elliptical before that, and have continued those exercises since.  However, since that initail run my knee has been bothering me.  Off and on I get sharp pains on the medial side of my knee, it hurts walking up and sometimes down stairs, and it sometimes hurts when I try to fully straighten it.  I have full extenion (0 degrees) and my flexation is at about 130/133 degrees.  I am supposed to be seeing my OS this week.  I was wondering if anyone's had anything similar?  I just want to know if it's something that I should worry about or not.  Should I be worried about my meniscus where I originally tore it since that seems to be were most of the pain is (at least that's where the sharp pains are)?  When I straighten my knee I also sometimes feel like there's something inside that's "catching" (I guess that's how I would describe it).  Any help, encouragement, advise would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hey, there.

You may want to take a look and try posting down in the crucitae ligments section (look under the 'specialists office' heading). There are lots of people down there who can probably help you out.

Take care.
