Long term knee problem
« on: March 28, 2006, 12:23:06 PM »
Hi

I am a 41 yr old male, I had a motorcycle accident when I was 20 resulting in bad factures to left hip and right knee, surgery was performed to repair these joints using plate/pin. I am fit and active and my current occupation is gardening.

From time to time i get pain and lack of mobility in my knee which generally lasts about a week.

Currently I have been unable to work for two days due to this problem. I do not think I have done anything over the past week to injure my knee.

What i find really frustrating is that i can work hard for weeks doing very physical activities with no ill effect what so ever and then I am laid up for no reason at all.

I did see a consultant about 10 years ago but by the time I got the appointment I was fine and was basically told to stop wasting his time.

Not sure what to do.

Any help would be appreciated  :)

John

Have you ever noticed if weather changes have effect on you ?
If this really bothers you get a new doc and find out what's going on.

Are you from UK ?
I would think this is all caused by your accident you had years ago...maybe you have arthtitis going on..I would definately try see a OS.

You have the same crazy system as we have in Sweden with waiting lists..though we in Sweden can consult private for same cost as public, but then queue for surgery and x-rays and mri.. ::)
